ED-1 Dulcimer

Our ED-1 Mountain Dulcimer is a gently updated version of the original James Edward Thomas instrument made in Knott County, Kentucky since 1871.  For enhanced ease of playing, we’ve increased the fingerboard width slightly to 1-1/4″, installed modern fret wire, and equipped each instrument with Wittner Finetune Geared Violin tuners. Our standard model is crafted from Appalachian Black Walnut, although other fine hardwoods may be available.

The voice that comes out of these feather-light dulcimers is angelic, authentic and clean!

Note before purchasing: Our dulcimers are made-by-hand. While we try to keep these items in stock, sometimes that may not be the case. Lead times for these instruments are usually about 1-2 weeks. You will be notified via email if this is the case for your order.
