Just a few weeks ago, we had the very exciting opportunity to visit a major industrial supplier of Appalachian tonewoods, Electric Hardwoods, just over the mountain from us in Haysi, Virginia. At the owner’s invitation, we drove down in a large moving van and proceeded to load it to the top with approximately 8,000 lbs. of gorgeous curly maple billets of all shapes and sizes. Figured maple is their specialty, and Kris Patrick, Mike Slone and I were impressed by the scale of their operation, hidden right here in the mountains. We found Dean Hill and his crew to be kind, knowledgeable and generous beyond all expectation! It really goes without saying that we look forward to working with Electric Hardwoods in the future, but it should be said that we left feeling like we had spent the day with good friends!
